So far this year, I have experienced numerous professional experiences that I never thought I would have the opportunity to experience. First, I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to take home a kit allowing me to record the blood pressure of my family members. This came soon after learning how to take vitals during class. This was very interesting and personal to me because I spent time over the summer admitted to the hospital, where they took my vitals numerous times throughout the day, beginning at 5 in the morning.

Another skill that I have had the opportunity of being exposed to in this class is learning how to suture. I spend a lot of time watching Grey’s Anatomy and suturing is always something that I have found fascinating. Another skill I have learned it how to tape an ankle, which was very intriguing to learn and I hope that someday I can take an ankle that needs it.

I have made so many amazing connections through this class and I hope to keep them following the semester. I am planning on taking another CAPS course next semester, so I will be sure to stop by the Sports Medicine room and say hi.

Through CAPS, I have spent a lot of time working and collaborating in groups. With this experience, I have learned a few things about myself and how I react to group settings. Although I am shy and tend to stay quiet in group, I also want my ideas and perspective to be heard. Through sim labs, I have been taking the role of ‘note-taker’, so I am working on being more hands-on and avoiding the job of taking notes (although the note-taker is important as well).
